The story of Taste Baguette
At 13 years old, Hieu was living opposite a bakery in Saigon where he passionately learned the trade. By 14 years old, the Luong family were escaping the Vietnam War to an Indonesian refugee camp.
While there, Hieu started his first bakery: A hand-built wood fire oven with a tinned roof that produced the most sought-after bread on the island.
In 1987, Hieu met Madeleine while studying IT together at university. After graduating, Hieu’s first day on the job at Westpac was interrupted by a stale lunchtime sandwich.
Hieu resolved to start what would eventually become Taste Baguette as we know it today: Freshness-first eateries built on the love of baking.
Hieu and Madeleine started their first bakery in 1989. They travelled the world learning different techniques in renowned bakehouses. They returned home and started more bakeries, building towards something special.
By 2006, Taste Baguette was first founded in Sydney, Australia. There are now 17 Taste Baguette eateries across Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

We find sites, negotiate new leases and renewals, and help out with lease administration. More than this, we are strategic partners supporting the long-term interests of Taste’s property footprint and business growth.
Working directly with founders Hieu and Madeleine Luong, we are proud to support such a successful (and delicious) local hot spot.
