Tenant Leasing Group (TLG) worked with our client Culture Kings to open a new store in Western Sydney – a heartland for their many fans.
Self-proclaimed as the ‘new home’ for Sydney’s streetwear culture, the bustling store opened in earnest on November 19, 2022.
A mind-blowing space, filled with thousands of pieces of the most sought-after and exclusive streetwear, the 800sqm retail store conforms to Culture Kings’ dedication to creating immersive retail experiences.
World famous for events and exclusives
Culture Kings are notorious – world famous, even – for their in-store experiential shopping experiences that blend music, culture, fashion, and often sport. And few of their events have been more thrilling than the show they put on to open their store on Level 1 of 159-175 Church Street, Westfield Parramatta.
Israel Adesanya, UFC World Middlweight Champion of the World, added his name to the group of A-List celebrities who have graced Culture Kings’ stores with their presence. He even had a go at some of the arcade games in there…
Joining the likes of Anderson .Paak, Serena Williams and NBA star Ben Simmons, he is in good company.
An iconic location for a maturing brand
As those in the know in retail will be aware, in 2021, Culture Kings was acquired by a.k.a. Brands. The publicly listed US conglomerate is a global retail brand platform that is pioneering a new approach to digital-native fashion. The acquisition helps realise the vision of Culture Kings’ founders Simon Beard and Tah-nee:
“[the goal] has always been to create the next global retail phenomenon where culture and style collide.”
As Culture Kings rose to a new level of success and prominence, it made sense to situate them in a higher value location with more foot traffic – Westfield Parramatta was the perfect choice.
We began the search for this prime retail spot while Culture Kings were still based at their old Parramatta store – 197 Church Street. The media announced the new store opening in October.
To get the retailer into Westfield Parramatta, we conducted a successful site search, drove a competitive rental deal and secured the highest incentive available – liasing between the lessor, lessee & lessee solicitor. We then helped sort their signature unique interior-fit out and in-store features.
